Help Centre
Are your items new or used?
All items sold by Gresley Rails are pre-owned (used) unless clearly stated otherwise.
We specialise in sourcing quality second-hand model railway items from collections, job lots, and enthusiasts.
Because of this:
- Every item is unique
- Condition will vary between listings
- Photos form a key part of the description
We always aim to describe items as accurately as possible so you can buy with confidence.
Are locomotives tested before sale?
Yes — unless stated otherwise.
All locomotives are:
- Tested
- Serviced where required
- Checked to ensure they run well
If a locomotive has any issues, this will be clearly stated in the listing (e.g. “poor runner” or “spares/repair”).
This ensures there are no surprises when your item arrives.
Do items come with their original box?
Some items do, some don’t.
If an item includes its original box:
- It will be clearly shown in the photos
If no box is visible in the images:
- Please assume it is not included
We do not guess or assume packaging — what you see is what you receive.
How long does delivery take?
We aim to dispatch all orders quickly and efficiently.
- Orders are typically dispatched within 1–2 working days
- Delivery usually takes 2–4 working days after dispatch
You will receive confirmation once your order has been shipped.
Do you offer combined postage?
Yes — and this is one of the benefits of buying from us.
If you purchase multiple items:
- We will combine them into one shipment where possible
- This helps reduce overall postage costs
This is especially useful for collectors building layouts or expanding their collection.
What is your returns policy?
We want you to feel confident buying from us.
If there is an issue with your order:
- You can return the item within 30 days
- Items must be returned in the same condition received
If your item is faulty or not as described:
- We will resolve this quickly with a refund or replacement where possible
Our goal is to make returns simple and hassle-free.

- Spare parts
